Pursuant to Act NR SR no. 245/2008 Coll. the director of the gymnasium determines the following criteria for Primary A in the 2024/25 school year:

The overall result of the admission procedure consists of

  • written test in mathematics, part A (maximum 50 points)

    Written test in mathematics part A

    The written test in mathematics, part A, tests the mastery of basic subjects at the ISCED 1 level. The maximum number of points is 50. The net time to complete the test is 40 minutes.
     

  • written test in mathematics, part B (maximum 50 points)

    Written test in mathematics part B

    The written test in mathematics, part B, tests logical thinking and creative mastery of the primary school curriculum. The maximum number of points is 50. The net time to complete the test is 40 minutes.
     

  • written test of general study prerequisites (maximum 50 points)

    Written test of general study prerequisites

    The written test of general study prerequisites checks the student’s skills and abilities necessary for successful completion of grammar school. The maximum number of points is 50. The net time to complete the test is 40 minutes.
     

  • distance knowledge test in school mathematics (maximum 20 points)

    Online test in school mathematics

    The online test in school mathematics tests the mastery of basic subjects at ISCED level 1. The maximum number of points is 20.

    The test is not a mandatory part of the admission procedure. The tests will be held approximately two weeks before the regular date of the entrance exam. In case of non-participation in the online test for serious reasons, it is possible to request an alternative date. More detailed information on online tests will be published in due course.
     

  • distance knowledge test in logic (maximum 20 points)

    Online logic test

    The online test in logic tests the mastery of basic subjects at ISCED level 1. The maximum number of points is 20.

    The test is not a mandatory part of the admission procedure. The tests will be held approximately two weeks before the regular date of the entrance exam. In case of non-participation in the online test for serious reasons, it is possible to request an alternative date. More detailed information on online tests will be published in due course.
     

  • Mathematical Olympiad (maximum 10 points)

    Mathematical Olympiad

    Points for the result in the district round of the Mathematical Olympiad category Z5 in šk. year 2023/24 (more at www.skmo.sk) are obtained according to the formula b =z-8, where z is the number of points obtained in the district round and b is the number of points included in the entrance exam result. Results are counted only for successful solvers and solvers, i.e. the value of b cannot be negative. The maximum number of points is 10.

    ATTENTION – The calculation of points for the Mathematical Olympiad is not automatic, and therefore you must deliver (in person, by mail, e-mail) the confirmation of the result no later than 14 days before the date of the entrance exam, so that it can be saved in the official file of the admission procedure.
     

  • assessments of general intellectual ability (condition)

    General intellectual talent

    The results of a psychological examination aimed at assessing the child’s general intellectual talent are part of the admission process. While the examination report is not a condition for the student to be able to take the tests during the admission procedure (i.e. the examination is also possible additionally, see below).

    A psychological examination can be completed at the Center for Pedagogical-Psychological Counseling and Prevention (CPPPaP) to which, based on the territorial division, the elementary school the child is currently attending belongs to. Another option is to contact CPPPaP at Brnianská 47 – psychologist PhDr. Alena Hakszerová (phone number 02/54775560), in whose care our school is. The psychological examination is free of charge.

    Those who have not been psychologically examined by the date of the entrance exam and successfully pass the entrance tests will subsequently take part in a psychological examination focusing on the diagnosis of general intellectual giftedness, which will probably take place at our school on a date to be determined.

In case of equality of points, the procedure is based on the following criteria

  1. pupil with changed working capacity (decision of the social security commission; § 67 paragraph 3 of Act No. 245/2008 Coll.)
  2. better result in the written test in mathematics part B
  3. better result at the MO Z5 district round
  4. better result in the written test in mathematics part A
  5. better result from the written test of general study prerequisites
  6. better result in distance knowledge test in school mathematics
  7. better result in distance knowledge test in logic

Criteria for successful completion of the entrance exam

  • fulfilment of the condition of general intellectual talent
  • gain of at least 50% of the maximum number of all points achieved by the best student during this year’s admission procedure for Primary A
  • other students (below 50% points) are unsuccessful
  • successful completion of the entrance exam does not guarantee admission to the course, which is limited by the number of open places

Pupils with SEN

When organizing the admission procedure, in the case of pupils with SEN (Special Educational Needs), the procedure is in accordance with § 65 par. 2 of Act 245/2008 Coll., according to which the form of the entrance exam for the pupil is determined taking into account his diagnosis, based on the recommendations of the school counseling facility under whose care the pupil is registered.

The principal of the school decides on the adjustment of the entrance exam of a student with SEN based on a written request from the legal representative and a written statement from the educational counseling school. In the statement of CŠPP or CPPPaP, it is necessary to indicate the restriction group (I.; II.).

The report from the psychological examination must be delivered no later than 14 days before the date of the entrance exam. A report from a psychological examination, which was carried out by a school psychologist and is not older than 2 years from the date of the entrance exams, will be acceptable.

Any non-participation in entrance exams due to serious reasons (e.g. illness – medical certificate must not be older than 3 days) must be excused no later than on the day of the entrance exam by 9:00 a.m. at the school’s office. Subsequently, the date of the replacement entrance exams will be determined.

    For each subject of Testing 9, 15 (success rate ≥98%), 14 (97.99-96%), 13 (95.99-94%), 12 (93.99-92%), 11 ( 91.99-90%), 10 (89.99-88%), 9 (87.99-86%), 8 (85.99-84%), 7 (83.99-82%), 6 ( 81.99-80%). 5 (79.99-78%), 4 (77.99-76%), 3 (75.99-74%), 2 (73.99-72%) or 1 (71.99-70%) points . The maximum number of points for both subjects together is 30.
     

  • Mathematical Olympiad (maximum 96 points)

    All points for the results of a successful solver in the district round of the Mathematics Olympiad category Z9 in the school year 2022/23 and 2023/24 (more at www.skmo.sk) and the regional round of the Mathematics Olympiad category Z9 in the school year 2022/23 and 2023/24 (more at www.skmo.sk). The maximum number of points for each result is 24 points, i.e. 96 points in total.

    Subject Olympics
    Points for subject Olympiads consist of two parts:

    1) 10 points for the result of a successful solver placing 1st to 5th in the district or regional round of the Olympiad in the subjects of mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, geography, history, Slovak, English, German, Russian, Spanish, French in 8 or 9th year of elementary school. A maximum of two Olympiads are counted. The maximum number of points is 20.

    2) All points for the results of a successful solver in the district round of the Mathematics Olympiad category Z9 in the school year 2022/23 and 2023/24 (more at www.skmo.sk) and the regional round of the Mathematics Olympiad category Z9 in the school year 2022/23 and 2023/24 (more at www.skmo.sk). The maximum number of points for each result is 24 points, i.e. 96 points in total.

  • subject Olympiads (maximum 93 points)

    Subject Olympics

    Points for subject Olympiads consist of two parts:

    1) For the result of a successful solver in the district round of the English language Olympiad in the school. in 2023/24, a flat rate of 10 points will be counted. For the result of a successful solver in the regional round of the English language Olympiad in the school. in 2023/24, a flat rate of 15 points will be counted. For the result of being a successful solver at the national round of the English language Olympiad in šk. in 2023/24, a flat rate of 20 points will be counted. The maximum number of points is 45.

    2) For the result of a successful solver of the district round Z8 and Z9 or the regional round Z9 held in šk. years 2022/23 and 2023/24 (more at www.skmo.sk) all points earned in a given round. A maximum of 2 results from the given Olympics will be counted. The maximum number of points is 48 points.

    ATTENTION – The calculation of points for the Mathematical Olympiad is not automatic, and therefore you must deliver (in person, by post, by e-mail) the confirmation of the result no later than 14 days before the date of the entrance exam, so that it can be saved in the official file of the admission procedure.
     

  • language certificate (maximum 5 points)

    Language certificate

    A flat rate of 5 points will be counted for proof of an English language certificate. Certificates from the state language school, Cambridge PET (Preliminary B1) or IELTS with a result of 4-4.5 (B1) are recognized. The certificate must not be older than 2 years.

In case of equality of points, the procedure is according to the following criteria

  1. pupil with changed working capacity (decision of the social security commission; § 67 paragraph 3 of Act No. 245/2008 Coll.)
  2. better result in the written math test
  3. better result in the written English language test
  4. better result from the Mathematical Olympiad
  5. better result in distance knowledge test in mathematics
  6. better result in distance knowledge test in logic

Criteria for successful completion of the entrance exam

  • gain of at least 50% of the maximum number of all points achieved by the best student during this year’s admission procedure to I. C
  • other students (below 50% points) are unsuccessful
  • successful completion of the entrance exam does not guarantee admission to the course, which is limited by the number of open places

Pupils with SEN

When organizing the admission procedure, in the case of pupils with SEN (Special Educational Needs), the procedure is in accordance with § 65 par. 2 of Act 245/2008 Coll., according to which the form of the entrance exam for the pupil is determined taking into account his diagnosis, based on the recommendations of the school counseling facility under whose care the pupil is registered.

The principal of the school decides on the adjustment of the entrance exam of a student with SEN based on a written request from the legal representative and a written statement from the educational counseling school. In the statement of CŠPP or CPPPaP, it is necessary to indicate the restriction group (I.; II.).

The report from the psychological examination must be delivered no later than 14 days before the date of the entrance exam. A report from a psychological examination, which was carried out by a school psychologist and is not older than 2 years from the date of the entrance exams, will be acceptable.

Before admission to study, the school instructs the student’s legal representative about all the educational options for his/her child (§ 61 of Act No. 245/2008). 

Potential non-participation in entrance exams

Any non-participation in entrance exams due to serious reasons (e.g. illness – medical certificate must not be older than 3 days) must be excused no later than on the day of the entrance exam by 9:00 a.m. at the school’s office. Subsequently, the date of the replacement entrance exams will be determined.

Transfer to Gamča to higher grades is possible in rare cases when meeting the legal conditions (§32 and §35 of Act No. 245/2008 Coll.) and conditions determined by the school principal.

Transfers to the eight-year study are possible only from another eight-year study. Transfers to a four-year study are possible only from another gymnasium study.

In the first step, the legal representative of the child files transfer request with mandatory attachments – the decision on admission to study at the current school, a photocopy of the last certificate and the current schedule (study plan).

Difference exams are determined by the school principal. The success rate of each differential exam must be at least 50%, while the student’s acceptance is still conditional on the number of free places in the classes.
